Timothy Devonish

Timothy was born on October 28, 1949, in the beautiful parish of St. Andrew, Barbados, to the late Cleo and Everton Scott. He is the brother of Erick Devonish, Errol Scott, Winston Scott, and Junior Scott, all of whom preceded him in death. Raised in the vibrant heart of Barbadian culture and values, Tim's foundation was one of hard work, humility, and community. Educated through the Barbados school system, Tim eventually found his calling as a carpenter - but to say he was "just" a carpenter wouldn't do him justice. Tim didn't just build with his hands; he built with his heart. Every nail he drove and every beam he laid carried his quiet dedication, his integrity, and that ever-present smile that became his signature. He migrated to the United States in 1996, where he joined Cathedral Church of God and continued his joy of carpentry in the construction industry. Tim's smile was his ministry. It was rare to see him without it, and through it, he ministered to those around him without ever saying a word. He offered encouragement, comfort, and joy simply by being present. His smile was more than an expression - it was a reflection of a soul rooted in peace. And oh, how he served. You could knock on his door at any hour, and if something needed fixing, Tim was already reaching for his tools before you could finish the sentence. He understood the simple truth of Colossians 3:23, which says: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters". Tim lived that verse out loud. He gave without conditions, he served without boasting, and smiled without hesitation. He lived not just for himself but for everyone lucky enough to know him, family, friends, neighbors - no one was a stranger when Mr. Tim was around. Thank God for the laughter he shared, for the kindness he showed, and for the ways he made each of us feel seen, heard, and cared for. Let us honor Tim not just in memory, but in action. Smile, serve, and love like he did.
