Susan Wausheina Nelson-Taylor

Susan Waushiena Nelson-Taylor affectionately known as “Sheina”, born in Pompano Beach, the seventh child of Rev. Talmadge W. and Alice Mae (Ford) Nelson. She was a life-long member of Greater Bethel AME Church, where she served in many capacities until her health declined; (usher, choir, and Steward Board). Susan matriculated through Broward County public schools attending Charles R. Drew, Margate Middle, and graduating in 1978 from Pompano Beach High School. Following graduation, Susan went on to receive an Electronic Assembly Certification from Atlantic Vocational School. For many years she worked for major Computer Technology, Semi-conductor, and Aerospace companies like (IBM, Burroughs, and Allied Signal). After vast layoffs in these industries, Susan went on to receive training in corporate and private security, where she received a Security Class D Certification. She worked as a security supervisor for Holiday Springs Retirement Community until she retired in 2018. Susan loved her life and everyone in it. Her joys were found in being a dedicated mother, to Jordan, and grandmother to Trystan. She was vigorously involved in Trystan’s life, always yearning, for better, for his journey. She encouraged, in him, a genuine love for learning. Her unlimited kindness and compassion for her family were unwavering. She practiced and preached, “Love (charity) never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8). Susan was a woman with a big heart. She had a strong love for music, dancing, and fashion. She was a huge fan of professional sports, in particular, the Miami Heat. She’s spent decades rooting them on. The loss of Susan’s light, laughter, and comical expressions has certainly dimmed for those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by, two brothers, Herbert and Christopher. Surviving in addition to, her son, Jordan Thomas Edwards IV, and grandson Trystan Stanley are four sisters Talmae J. Miller, Sonia Nelson-Pinkney (Vincent), Dianne V. Nelson, and Nikki S. Nelson, and one brother Talmadge W. Nelson III. She, also, leaves to cherish, her life, a plethora of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her community.
