Bishop Richard Broxey, Jr.

His Story For more than seven decades, Bishop Richard Broxey, Jr. lived a life marked by faith, service, hard work, and devotion to family. On Sunday, June 14, 2026, he entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of godly leadership, steadfast conviction, and love. Affectionately known as Rich, Daddy, Papa, Junior, Zunah, and Uncle, he touched countless lives through his wisdom, generosity, and servant's heart. Richard was born on December 15, 1951, in Live Oak, Florida, to the late Richard Broxey, Sr. and Corrine Broxey. He later moved with his family to South Florida, where he graduated from Ely High School in 1969. He continued his education at Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1973. On April 19, 1975, he married the love of his life, Sister Lucinda Broxey. Together they shared 47 years of marriage and built a home centered on faith, love, and perseverance. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Felicia and Olivia, who remained among his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments. At an early age, Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and remained faithful throughout his life. He served for many years at Deerfield Beach Church of God, where he met Lucinda and developed a lifelong commitment to ministry. In 2017, he and his wife joined Lighthouse Worship Center COGIC under the leadership of Bishop Jimmie L. Williams, where he continued to serve faithfully until his passing. Throughout his years of ministry, Bishop Broxey served in numerous capacities, including church clerk, youth pastor, choir member, jail ministry worker, elder, and bishop. Whether preaching, mentoring, praying, or encouraging others, he approached every assignment with humility, dedication, and a genuine love for people. His ministry reflected his belief that serving God meant serving others. Professionally, he enjoyed a successful career as a Financial Analyst for more than 30 years. Following retirement, he continued serving his community as a school crossing guard for Broward County Schools. Long after leaving the corporate world, he found joy in helping children safely begin and end their school days. He took that responsibility seriously, offering a watchful eye, a warm greeting, and a caring presence to the students and families he encountered each day. Service was not simply something he did, it was who he was. Bishop Broxey was a strong, principled, and disciplined man who believed in faith, hard work, personal responsibility, and perseverance. He encouraged others to strive for excellence, refuse limitations, and trust God through life's challenges. Though firm in his convictions, he was deeply devoted to his family and fiercely protective of those he loved. One of his greatest desires was to see his daughters become strong, independent women, and he worked diligently to model the values he hoped to instill in them. His life reflected his belief that service to God is demonstrated through service to people. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 47 years, Sister Lucinda Broxey, and his parents, Richard, Sr. and Corrine Broxey. He leaves to cherish his memory two devoted daughters, Ms. Felicia Broxey and Dr. Olivia Broxey; four cherished grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jazmine, Joseph III Richardson, and Sorelle Jones; one great-grandson, Marcus Desrivieres, Jr.; his loving sister, Mrs. Leah (Sanders) Lester; four beloved aunts, Mrs. Bonnie (Cecil) Howell, Mrs. Katherine (Pastor Mark) Bell, Mrs. Annette Philpot, and Mrs. Louann Griffin; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Pearlie Woodard and Mrs. Rosilyn (Stanley) Dickerson; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Rickey (Denise) Reed and Rev. Lonnie Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and dear friends. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
