Pauline Virginia Powell

Pauline Singletary Powell daughter of the Late Ezekial and Hattie Barr Singletary, was born on November 17, 1937 in Lake City, South Carolina. Pauline was a Carver Hill School graduate and later went on to receive college degrees at both Broward College and Florida Atlantic University. On October 30, 1959 she married her soul mate George Powell. They relocated to Broward County, Florida in 1964. She acknowledge her faith in God at an early age which led her to become a member of the First Born Church of the Living God upon moving to Broward, wherein she was an active member of the choir as well as church secretary. Pauline has a love for education which led her to pursue a teaching career. After 30 years of teaching she retired while employed at Poinciana Park Elementary in Miami, Florida. Not only did Pauline have a love for education, she also had a love for flowers which led her to become a co-owner of Unique Flowers & Gifts in Plantation, Florida until the closing of the business. Pauline passed away early Thursday morning at home while surrounded by loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Eli “Son”, Graham and Norman Singletary: and sister Lula Mae Ray. She leaves to mourn a devoted husband: George Powell; son: Jerry (Shirley) Powell, Sr. of Bennettsville, South Carolina; daughters: Juanashae (Bernard) Powell of Pompano Beach, Florida; and Stephanie Bass of Lauderhill, Florida; sisters: Jennie Vease Cooper of Lake City, South Carolina and Alice Russ of Gastonia, North Carolina; brother: Leman (Johnnie Mae) Singletary of Pompano Beach, Florida; 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a special family member: Loria Ann Powell and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
