Marie Madeleine Jean-Louis, best known as "Rebecca"- Born in Saint Marc, Haiti. A beloved child of Guillianise Fleuridor (deceased) and Joseph Jean-Louis (deceased), she was the youngest of 4 siblings. Rebecca lived most of her youth in Saint Marc spent most of her adult years in Rossignol, Comune Grande Saline. She lived in Port-au-Prince for a time while raising her 2 youngest daughters and survived the terrifying earthquake of 2010. She emigrated to the US in 2012 and lived with her daughters and played an integral part in her grandchildren lives. While she lived in the US and Haiti off and on, she is proud to call Rossignol her true home. throughout her life in Haiti, she belonged to the church of Armeé du Salut and enjoyed the fellowship of her church community. She is survived by 4 daughters (Lumene Paul-Nicolas, Natacha Paul-Philippi, Elidiane Jean Philippe, Oljine Jean Philippe, 6 grandchildren ( Tamar Philippi, Nathan Jordan Sejour, Melody Joy Philippi, Ludy Claudette Nicolas, Beccaria Louis, Saraphina Kendy Philippi and a son-in-law, Mackendy Philippi). She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins distant family and friends. Nephews and nieces: Monique Guillaume, Christianie Victor, Marie-Claudine Dort, Lamercie Louis. Chimène Sinçois, IaniqueJean-Louis, Célianne Jean-Louis, Demesvar Gabriel, Josué Jean, Robenson Gabriel, Leconte Sinçois, Emmanuel Jean, and Elie Jean; Cousins: Theodore Jean-Louis , Luthamène and Clairtha She is preceded in death by 4 siblings: Jesula Pasteur, Velina Pasteur, Loulouse Pasteur and brother MaxèneJean-Louis. Rebecca found the Lord in the 1970's and renewed her relationship with the Lord in the 1990's. During that time of reflection and restoration and up until her illness, she surrendered her life's work and passions and sought after the Lord fervently. She labored tirelessly to build God-centered relationships in her later years and made it her mission to share the gospel at every opportunity presented. Rebecca will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who gave all she had. Most significantly, she will be remembered as ardent servant of the Lord. We grieve the loss of Rebecca for we had much more to share with and learn from her. We stand on God's Word that she will be received by dear savior Lord as promised in Isaiah 57:2- " Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.". What we will remember mom best by is how she made us feel celebrated during each visit to Haiti. She pulled out her best whenever we were around, the softest bedding, the nicest table settings and the choicest and most delightful meals were part of the table. We will remember her care in cooking and how she fed our soul with love through the art of her cooking. Her favorites: - basketball - cooking - Psalm 3, 4 and 7 - hymns songs - -She loved watching basketball and wrestling -She found deep joy in creating delicious meals in the kitchen; - She found solace in Psalms 7 “lapriyè pou mandé jistis” - She enjoyed worshipping with the hymns in chant d’espérance français chapitre 172 - ”Comme un cerf altéré brame”
