Ira Lamar Blue

LIFE REFLECTIONS To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 SUNRISE JULY 19.1938 Ira Lamar Blue was born to the late Johnson and Essie Mae Blue of Pompano Beach, Florida. Ira was the third of five children born to this union: Johnson Junior, Wallace, Ira, Purcell and Esther. EDUCATION Ira was educated in the Broward Schools System and graduated from Blanche Ely High School in 1956. He attended Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University for one year, then he joined the United States Army for two years. A TIME TO LOVE Ira was united in holy matrimony to Elnora Wesley on June 25, 1964, 60 years. They had no children of their own, but they were a mother and father figure to their nieces and nephews. A TIME FOR COMMUNITY Ira was well known for working for Allstate for 30 years. He was a dedicated supporter of Blanche Ely High School. He was part of the group that lobbied and led the fight to reopen the school. Over the years he served on the Academic and Athletic Success Team, band booster support group, school advisory committee and the facilities committee. He played a major role in helping to obtain the current stadium and track field. In recognition of his work the school honored him and others on Septembers 30, 2024, with their names on a plaque. A TIME TO REST/SUNSET Ira became ill in February of 2024 and fought a good fight until God said it’s time to come home. Ira answered the call of his Lord and Savior on January 20, 2025, at Holy Cross Hospital. A TIME TO MOURN Ira leaves to cherish his loving wife of 30 years Elnora Wesley Blue. His bonus daughters: Tia Hawkins, Pakita Wright (Calven), Danita Wrisper, Danette Dinkins (Jerry), Jasmin Price and Jalah Fields. His Bonus Sons: Bruce Wimberly, Christopher Wimberly (Beatrice), Dwayne Hawkins (Elbony), Marquez Wimberly and Jalen Fields. One brother: Percell Blue of Pompano Beach, Florida and special niece Pashetta Blue (Sam) of Pompano Beach. One sister-in-law Rosetta Clark of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. A special cousin Albert Hill, of Pompano Beach, and a host of nieces, nephews, sorrowing relatives and friends too numerous to name.
