Genssly Jean Ralph Pericles

It is with heavy hearts that we gather today to commemorate the life of Genssly Jean-Ralph Pericles, affectionately known as Jeanjean, as he returns to his eternal Father. His departure at the age of 53 has left a profound emptiness in our lives, as we know he left this world far too soon. Genssly lived most of his life in Florida, and throughout his journey, he became known as a man of passion, whose greatest joy came from helping others. His acts of kindness and unwavering support in times of need made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Jeanjean had a special way of making others feel valued and cared for, and his generosity knew no bounds. In addition to his caring nature, Jeanjean had a great love for music and culture, especially Haitian music. He had an undeniable passion for the rhythms and melodies that defined his heritage. His love for soccer was just as strong,particularly his staunch support for the Brazil team—he was a true fanatic through and through. Beside his passion for soccer, he was devoted to playing golf. Every year during football season, according to him, the Miami Dolphins were destined to be the NFL champions. Jeanjean’s connection to his roots was also reflected in his love for French culture, particularly chansonnettes françaises. Every weekend, if you stopped by his home, you were sure to hear the familiar sounds of “Revivons les bons vieux temps”— a beautiful French ballad that embodied his deep connection to his heritage. His love for these traditions showcased the richness of his soul and the depth of his passion. But one of Jeanjean’s most defining traits was his commitment to celebrating life, especially his own. November was, without a doubt, his month. Celebrating his birthday was his top priority every year, from the first to the 30th. He made sure everyone knew it was his special time. He was a man who ensured his birthday was never forgotten, turning the entire month of November into a celebration of love, joy, and gratitude. On November 14th, his actual birthday, Jeanjean would reach his fullest apogee, reminding everyone of his vibrant spirit and zest for life. A proud and loving father to Genssly Tanis Pericles, he treasured every moment spent with his family. The bond he shared with his beloved wife, Mercie Colas, was unbreakable and undeniable. Their love story was one of deep connection and devotion. Throughout his life, he often looked back and realized how much his grandmother’s quiet strength had shaped him into the person he was. She had been the center of his world, a steady presence guiding him with wisdom, even when she was unaware of it. He loved her unconditionally, and her influence remained with him, woven into the fabric of his being. His heart swelled with gratitude for her, the greatest teacher he'd ever known, and for his mother, whose love had never wavered, always given without question. His sister, too, was a pillar of support. Her unwavering love and constant presence grounded him. Her laughter had the power to light up his darkest days, reminding him to find joy even in the most challenging moments. Born in 1971 in Jean-Rabel, Haiti, Genssly was the son of Yolande Pericles Joseph. He spent his childhood in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, then he moved to Florida. He continued his education at Deerfield Beach High School and later pursued further studies at Broward College, where he shaped his future. Jeanjean was known for his unique skills as an electrician, but he was more than just a tradesman—he was a “do-ityourselfer” who could tackle any challenge with ingenuity and care. He was a true handyman. He possessed a deep sense of compassion and respect that he carried with him throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Genssly Pericles survives by his wife, Mercie Colas Pericles, and their son, Genssly Tanis Pericles. He is also survived by his mother, Yolande Pericles Joseph; his stepfather Jerome Handal Joseph, his grandmother, Rosalie St. Charles; his sister, Mrs. Michael Michaud (Jenny Joseph); his nephew, Rashawn Granderson; and his niece, Jada Michaud. Additionally, he leaves behind his godmother, Marie Jose Richardson, and his godfather, Pierre Edward St. Aude, as well as numerous beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends who admired his kind spirit and selfless nature. He will also be remembered by the extended families of Pericles, Colas, Joseph, St. Charles, Milcent, Richardson, Innocent, Casimir, Alexis, Eugene, Armas, Gustave, Lebrun, and St. Aude, along with many others. Though his time with us was far too short, Jeanjean’s legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will live on for generations. He may no longer walk beside us, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts Jeanjean will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. May his soul rest in peace.
