Annie Cooper-Major

Minister Annie Cooper Major was born on March 7, 1942, in Cades, South Carolina, to the late Queen Elizabeth Cooper and John Cooper SR. On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Annie peacefully transitioned from labor to reward, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Annie received her education in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, attending Bethlehem Elementary School, Battery Elementary Middle School, and Cades High School. She later relocated to Florida, where she built a life centered around faith, family, hard work, and service to others. ON AUGUST 5, 1959. Annie was united in holy matrimony to the late Wallace Major, and together they built a loving family rooted in faith and resilience. Annie was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked in housekeeping at Howard Johnson Hotel in Deerfield Beach, Florida, and also spent many years providing private housekeeping services. She took pride in everything she did and was known for keeping things spotless and in order. A woman of unwavering faith, Annie loved the Lord wholeheartedly. She began her Christian journey at Mt. Camel Holiness Church, where she served as church secretary. In 1969, she joined The House of God Which Is The Church of The Living God under the leadership of the late Bishop Holmes, later serving faithfully under Bishop Frank Green Sr., and currently Bishop Frank Green Jr. Throughout the years, Annie served diligently as Head Usher, Secretary, and in various areas of ministry. Her dedication to God and her church family remained steadfast throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John, Sr. and Queen Elizabeth Cooper; her husband, Wallace Major; two daughters, Rosa lee Major and Gereldean Major; HER brothers Leroy Cooper, Willie James Cooper, David Cooper, and Eddie Dean Cooper. She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters: Pearlene Major (Timothy Andrews), Retha Major Williams (Sammie), and Merilyn Major-Strowbridge (Roosevelt, Jr.); 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Cooper, Jr. (Mattie); one sister, Laura Howard (Joseph); sister-in-law Magalene Cooper McClam; godchildren: Sheila Burke, Chrishenda Jackson, and Pearly Cooper special friend: Lillian Gross and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, neighbors, and friends whom she loved dearly.
