Reflections of Life Veronica Pearl Boyd was born on February 20, 1956, to the late James Lucious Boyd, Sr. and Wadrine Jackson Boyd in Pompano Beach, Florida. Pearl, as she was affectionately known, grew up and spent her childhood in Pompano Beach. Those childhood days were filled with fun-loving activities shared with family and friends. She was educated in the Broward County School System that commenced at Charles R. Drew Elementary. Upon meeting her requirements, she matriculated to Blanche Ely High, and later transferred to Coconut Creek High where she earned her high school diploma, graduating with the first graduating class in 1973. Shortly after graduating from high school, Pearl began a career as an Operator with Southern Bell where she worked many years. After leaving the industry she traveled with her son, Rodencia, during his military tenure spending time in Hawaii and Texas. She would eventually find her way back home to Pompano Beach where she became the caretaker of her mother while working as a Customer Service Representative for Walmart. Later in life, she decided to return to school attending Liberty University where she received a certificate in counseling while pursuing a degree in Theology. At an early age, Pearl professed her faith in Christ and accepted the Lord as her Savior. She was a long-time member of Saint John African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, where she functioned in various capacities such as the Director of the Young People Department (YPD), choir member and secretary. She later joined Mount Zion AME under the leadership of Rev. George A. Hardy, where she continued serving the Lord as a licensed exhorter, church school teacher, stewardess, choir member and missionary. She loved the Lord, people and her church and was faithful in her service. On Monday, April 15, 2019, God granted Pearl rest and peace from her labor.
