Obituary I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me) on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 Sunrise: Mary Etta Johnson was born July 09, 1932, in Desoto, Georgia to the parents of Mr. Walter Nelson and Mrs. Alice Nelson, whom both preceded her in death. Mary was one of three children; one of her siblings, Mr. Walter Nelson, also preceded her in death. She was educated in the Sumter County, Desoto, Georgia public school system along with her other siblings. Mary met and married the late Mr. Walter Lee Johnson; he was the love of her life. In the early 1950’s they relocated to the city of Deerfield Beach, Florida. To this union, twelve children were born. Four of her children preceded her in death, Henry Lee Johnson, Bernard Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Robert Johnson. Mary was nurtured in a Christian home; in her home, she learned the value of family and the love for others. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her Christian journey allowed her to be the wife and mother her family adored and so deeply loved. Her love for Christ, lead her to join the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist church of Deerfield Beach, Florida under the leadership of the late Rev. L. V. McCutcheon. Over the years of attending Bethlehem, she faithfully served on the Number One Usher Board, the Home Mission Committee and she also served on the Deaconess Ministry, all under the leadership of the late Rev. Willie James Ford, Sr. Until her health began to fail her. Sister Johnson was currently serving under the leadership of Pastor, Rev. Demetric R. Ford. Mary was a stay-at-home mom, who proudly loved and cherished her children. She also had an affectionate heart for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She demonstrated love, spirituality, strength, witty, fashion, and peace. She had a very outspoken personality, which left us with many life lessons and most of the time laughing experiences. We will forever be thankful to God for the years he allowed her to be in our lives. Sunset: On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, God saw that her earthly body was getting tired and decided to call her home. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Rosetta Johnson and Beverly Johnson both of Deerfield Bch, FL; six sons, Frank Johnson (Mary) of Boynton Bch, FL, Charles Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Tobias Johnson, all of Pompano Bch, FL, Anthony Johnson, Malcolm Johnson, both of Deerfield Bch, FL; one brother, Square Nelson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one sister-in-law, Janie Williams of St. Petersburg, FL; seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. And a special life-long friend, Mrs. Ruth Thompson.
