Johnnie Collins Floyd

March 18, 1924 - February 2, 2021

Johnnie C. Floyd was born March 18, 1924 to the parentage of the late John C. Floyd and Annie Bell Floyd in Cochran, Georgia, later moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. He was the youngest of the three, his sibling Johnie Mae Elvine (James) and Annie Mae Tillman (Jerry) preceded him in death. Johnnie was affectionately known as "Po-County", some even called him Blood. He attended Pompano Beach Colored School, he traveled upstate New York and surrounding area at a tender age with a friend Walter Black seeking work, jobs were scarce. He returned to Florida still looking for work. He was hired at Johnson's Pool room to run the pool hall; for many, many years. He was well known and well-liked by many young and old. He was noted as a pool shark in Broward County. Also, he worked for Reed Pools, Oakland Park, FL where he was trained to lay tile, became a master Tile - Setter. Fred Brown Pools and Construction, Pompano Beach, FL; Later went to work for McNamara Construction, Jupiter, FL under the supervision of his son Miles Floyd, then retired. He joined "Word of The Living God Ministries” under the Leadership of Apostle John Mohorn, attended until his health deteriorated. After Johnnie returned from New York and surrounding area, back to Pompano Beach, Florida, he meets and fell in love with Ruthie Mae Scruggs. Married 03/13/1953 and to this union five children were born: Constance, Miles, Rosalind, Michelle and Denetra. Ruthie Mae preceded him in death 10/21/2014. Those left to cherish his memories: daughters: Iris D. Hicks (James) (deceased) Constance Floyd-English (Herbert), Rosalind Floyd, Michelle Floyd, Denetra Floyd; Sons: Miles Floyd and George Randell; Grandchildren: Sharanda Grice (Allen), Nicole Johnson (Kevin), Ericka Floyd, Jeremy Hicks, Tehran Green, Miles Floyd Jr, Brittney Floyd, Justin Floyd, Marcus Floyd, Sherod Mccray, Jessica Hawkins, Georgeanna Randell, and Talia Randell; Great Grands: Justin Mccray, Kevin Johnson, Breanna Johnson, Kayla Kimbrough, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
