Cora Lee Amerson

February 9, 1927 - June 27, 2020

Life’s Reflections Cora Lee Brown Amerson was the second of eight siblings born February 9, 1927 in Wadley, Georgia to the parentage of the late Roosevelt and Addie Lee Wilcher Brown, Cora Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Mudies Amerson; five sons, Thomas, Mudies, Roosevelt, Jerry, and Jessie Amerson; one daughter Cathy Ann Amerson; one sister, Mary Lou Crispell; four brothers, Willie, Barbara aka Bobby, Pierce and Felton Brown all who preceded her in death. A life well lived is a legacy, of Joy and Pride and Pleasure, a living, lasting memory that our grateful heart’s will treasure. Cora Lee Amerson on June 27, 2020 quietly surrendered to the will of our Lord and Savior and joined her heavenly family. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and love ones that she touched throughout the 93 years of her memorable life. At a very early age, Mother Cora Lee professed her faith in Christ. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she sung in choir, served on the Usher Board and Mother’s Board. She even traveled with the mimes, the City wide choir and church conventions. Cora Lee opened her heart and her home too many, she has been a source of encouragement to all who have lived with her or crossed her path. Cora Amerson was Loving, Considerate, Nurturing, Thoughtful and Compassionate. Despite her large family Cora Lee always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her family. She worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her Children. Mother Amerson worked as a Foster Grandparent at Charles Drew Elementary, work at a nursing Home, worked as a Housekeeper and even ran a Daycare at Antioch and at her home. Her heart and her generosity knew no bounds. Left to carry on Cora Lee Amerson legacy and cherished memories are: her devoted sons; George and Allen Amerson daughter Ashley Amerson.one sister; Neloise Brown of Cortlandt Manor NY, one brother; Theartis Brown of Deerfield Beach, Florida, a devoted nephew; Sidney Crispell of Courtlandt Manor, New York and niece, Valarie Brown Smith of Chicago IL, God children; Candi and Nichelle aka Nikki Scott. Fond memories will continue to cherish in the lives of nineteen grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends. What a legacy it is to be remembered because of love. Now you are our guardian angel. You will always be loved, always be missed, and always be in our hearts.
