Waylen Tazane Blount

Waylen Tazane Blount, affectionately known as Way-Way, was born November 2, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Tequila Striggles and Woodrow Blount Sr. He attended Elite PPEC Daycare and Lauderhill Paul Turner Elementary where he was recently promoted to first grade. In 2021 when Waylen was three years old, the family of 11-year-old Anthony Reznik blessed him with a new heart during a life-saving transplant operation. For 259 days he was cared for by the attentive, dedicated and skilled doctors, nurses and staff at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood. Because of the generous organ donation and the tender loving care he received during his hospital stay, Waylen was able to enjoy three more fun and happy years of life, love and laughter with his family and childhood friends. He was finally free to live his youthful life, to play, to run and to talk with and be in the company of his siblings and other children. Waylen was a fun-loving character who kept everyone laughing This old soul in a little boy’s body was mesmerized with his favorite superhero, Spider-Man and was intrigued with the gifts from the spider bite that included enhanced strength, stamina, and agility, as well as the ability to cling to walls and nearly any surface by his hands and feet. Waylen’s spider bite was his new heart that enhanced his strength to be tough, gave him stamina to endure his pain, and agility to be a playful little boy. As he was scheduled to have a lifetime of check-ups and follow-up care here on earth, on July 4, 2024, God saw that his beautiful flower could no longer cling to earth’s wall. So, God called our Waylen to His heavenly garden where there is no more pain and suffering but, there is peace and safety in the care of his heavenly Father. “Let your children be as so many flowers, borrowed from God. Left to cherish his memory are: his mother, Tequila Striggles; father Woodrow Blount Sr; five brothers: Tavares Blount, Titus Blackmon, Xzavier Blount, Woodrow Blount & Wiley Blount; four sisters: Ebony Blount, Taqeriha Striggles, Ta’Carri-Morris & Wonique Blount; grandmother Florence Blount; grandfather Richard Jones; great-grandmother Annie Mae Striggles; five uncles: Camron Striggles, Shavon Striggles, James ‘Man’ Striggles, Hubert Blount & Herman Blount; five aunts Shineika Striggles, April Blount, Antanette Jones, Felicia Blount & Florence Blount; Special Adopted Family: Inna Trakhtenberg, Andrew Zemlyanko, Mark Reznik and the doctors, nurses and staff at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital; along with great aunts, great uncles, cousins and family friends.
