Lucille Tigner Jones

On October 7, 1945, in Cuthbert Randolph County Georgia, Lucille Tigner, a beautiful baby girl was born to the parentage of the late Charlie James, Sr. and Bessie Mae Tigner. Lucille was the seventh child born of twelve children. Nine to whom had preceded her in death. During her life journey, her parents wanted to pursue a better life for their children, and relocated to Deerfield Beach, Florida, in 1953. It was after this transitional period to Florida, she continued her education in the Broward County Public Schools System, beginning at Braithwaite Elementary, and continued on to high school at Blanche Ely High School, Pompano Beach, FL, where she completed her high school education, graduating in the class of 1963. She was elected and crowned Homecoming Queen. In July 1967, she met and later married the late Willie “Paul” Samuel. It was to this union; they were blessed with two sons: Corey and Kevin Samuel. Two beautiful granddaughters to whom she loved dearly, TaCoria Gray McCloud Samuel and Kiana Deniese Samuel, who preceded her in death. She embraced her nephew Fred Tigner, Jr., whom she took in as a bonus son; two granddaughters and one grandson, Fred Robert Otis “Trey” Tigner III, who preceded her in death. Lucille and her family established their membership at First Zion Missionary Baptist Church Deerfield Beach, under the Pastoral-ship of the late Reverend Fred D. Kitchen. In 1973 she became a devoted member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. William Ramsey. There, she faithfully served as a church usher for 37 years. In 1995 to increase her spiritual growth she took a two year “Through the Bible Course” at Zoe Life Christian Center in Sunrise. She graduated with Honors at the Signature Grand. In 2022 she re-established her membership at First Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the current leadership of Pastor Theodus T. Times II, where she continued her ministerial duties as an usher, faithfully serving others. Lucille was employed with Florida Power & Light as a Senior Customer Service Analyst for 37 years. Because of her love, dedication, strong collaborative team ethics and excellent job performance, a special retirement celebration was given by Co-workers and friends, honoring her legacy, and validating decades of hard work, throughout her tenure. She was very passionate about traveling, sports, attending church services, spending time with her siblings, family gatherings, and friends. Lucille had an unconditional love and a heart of gold for everyone. The light of Lucille will shine through her family and friends. As Lucille rests in the arms of our Heavenly father, she leaves to cherish her loving and everlasting memories; Three sons: Corey Samuel, Deerfield Bch, FL., Kevin Samuel (TanShay), Coral Springs, FL., and Fred Tigner, Jr. (Teneshia), Port Saint Lucie, FL.; Ten Grandchildren: TaCoria, Kaleb, Jeremiah, Zion, Jordan, Sy’rai, Skylar, Ta’Niyah, Journee, and George; One Great Grandchild: Ja’Zurie; Three loving siblings: Leila Tigner Stephen, Deerfield Bch FL., Eric Tigner (Mary Frances), Ft. Pierce, FL., Joanne Dorsey, Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and sister-n-law: Velinda Tigner, Deerfield Bch, FL. A Special God-sister: Fannie Baker (Tony), Deerfield Bch, FL.; A Special God-son: Johnny L. Dorsey III (Kisha), Ft. Worth, Texas; A Loving God-daughter: Shaporia Carpenter, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.. and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
