Romans 14:8 James Lee Burns was born on March 13, 1938, to the parentage of the late Willie Burns and Inez Johnson-Burns in Cochran, Georgia. Later, the Burns Family made their primary home in Delray Beach, Florida; where James received his early education, at Carver High School. At age 19, James Burns traveled with his family to Virginia where, upon the family’s return to Florida, he remained in Virginia and settled there as a young adult. Being a lover of Family, James would travel back and forth to Florida to check on his Family and to help-out whenever and where-ever needed. James Burns was a hard-working young man who loved to travel. He believed in learning all that he could and applying that knowledge to his life. His many accomplishments were: *J. L. B. Trucking Company, Owner *X-Ray Technician * Po-Boy Auto Cars, Owner * Apartment Ownership * Co-Inventor of a Parental Control Device for TV with Government Patents. * Master Welder / Newport News Shipyard *Welding 35years for CBI (Chicago Bridge and Iron, Wilmington, DE) / First Black Administrator to manage *CBI Company project in the United States. * Additional Training in London * Specialist in Exotic Metals * Welding / CBI – Construction Superintendent - Supervised building tanks in Saudi Aribia, Iran, Greece, Iraq, Dubai, Middle East, and Africa In 1997, he retired from CBI (Chicago Bridge & Iron) after 35 years of service. During that time, he received many awards and certificates for his outstanding service. James L. Burns was lovingly known to his family and friends as JB, Chank, Jim, Jimmy, and James. His presence, smile, kind words and deeds touched many lives. He was well known and respected in the community and workplace. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. On Saturday September 9, 2023, James L. Burns departed this life. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Burns; mother, Inez Johnson-Burns. Siblings: (Brothers)Willie Burns, Jr., Walter Burns, Robert L. Burns, (Sister) Sarah Grace Burns-Rogers and one daughter, Shelia Renee Burns. He leaves to cherish his memory: Four daughters: Katherine Haynesworth of Hampton, VA., Anita Maria Burns-Clark of Chesapeake, VA., Stephanie Stone of Los Angles, CA., Angela Burns of Pompano Beach, Florida. Three sons: James Louis Haynesworth (Angela) of Hampton, VA., Eric Brian Burns of Washington, DC., Sy ‘ant Cross-Burns (Temetris) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, One Sister: Mildred Burns-Jackson of Pompano Beach, Florida. One Brother: Andrew W. Burns (Ethel) of Pompano Beach, Florida.
