Rev. George Edward Bracy

The Journey of George Edward Bracy……………… Growing up in the small City of Deerfield Beach, Florida along with his family was this Strong, Healthy, Smart and Tall young man by the name of George Bracy, who was born on June 18, 1947, he was 1 of 9 siblings born to the parentage of the late Mildred Madison-Bracy and Berk Bracy, Sr. Preceding him in death: Rosa Lee, Roger Lee, Berk, Jr., Wilson known as Donnie and Darrell. As a young child George showed a great interest in various sports, Football, Basketball and Track. The Bracy family has a lineage of exceptional athletes who were also academically sound. In the early 60’s Cardinal Gibbons High School was in their Inaugural Stages of their Athletic Programs and as a result of their Athletic abilities, George along with one other Brother, Berk, Jr. and several other African American young men from Deerfield Beach, Fl, attending Blanche Ely High School, were the Diamonds in the Ruff that Cardinal Gibbons High School were looking for to enhance their Athletic Program, they were ultimately recruited and proudly attended this prestigious school which was miles away from home, but George a Warrior and a true team player the distance of 58 miles a day never kept him away from attending school and his practices. A few accomplishments of George Bracy during his tenure (1962-66) at C.G.H.S.: Athletic Varsity Letters: Football 2, 3 & 4; Basketball 2, 3 & 4; Track 2, 3 & 4. Honored at C.G.H.S. 3rd Annual Banquet at Harris Imperial: Best Football Back and Top Basketball Rebounder. On the Football Field: George was known as a gentle giant 6’3”-180lbs, with such great speed. On the Basketball Court: George was known as a Sharpshooter (along with his lifetime/childhood friend and classmate Robert Baisden, whom preceded him in death, they were called a pair of Sharpshooters). On the Track: George was known for running the 100 yd dash in 10.1 or 10.3 seconds, “if it had been official this would have been a World Record”. These quotes coming from one of his longtime classmate and friend Kevin Bolender whom he gives great thanks for his Nomination which led to George being inducted into the Cardinal Gibbons High School Hall of Fame in 2020. “Reminding us of records in which he researched and found that their Coach Chickorotis stated that there was hardly a week in which George’s name wasn’t in the School Newspaper called The Voice and the local newspapers. He also stated that George represented their young program very well and kept C.G.H.S. as a contender or a leader in their conference each year. He never had to be disciplined, he was respected as a Christian young man and has led his life the same to this day.” After graduating in 1966 from C.G.H.S. George Bracy received an Athletic Scholarship to attend Bethune Cookman College where he attended for 2 years. After his tenure at Bethune Cookman College, he returned home to pursue a career in the Plumbing Industry. He was employed by Oriole Plumbing and was instrumental in the installations of the properties in Oriole Estates in Lauderdale Lakes, Fl. He then transferred jobs working for South Shore Plumbing where he retired. He was a Master in Plumbing and home renovations. After his retirement he continued to do light jobs. Always keeping God at the forefront of his life, George Became a Licensed Minister at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Deerfield Beach, where he’s a lifelong member. He’s always been a great lover of sports and the youth and was known for always having a vehicle load of neighborhood children transporting them to various sporting events. His hobbies consist of attending Church and Church affiliated functions, Light plumbing and household tasks and family gatherings. At the Braithewaite Senior Center where he attended since the opening of this prestigious facility, George was taught how to play Dominos by his fellow Center members, and was known as “King George.” On Saturday evening, February 15, 2025.George answered the Master’s call in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side. George’s everlasting love and memories will be cherished by his Devoted Wife and Caregiver Willie R. Graham-Bracy. His Two children Nicole Bracy-Mitchell and George, Jr.(Melissa). Three Siblings Robert Bracy, Sr.(Juanita), Linda Bracy-Gowdy(Frank), Sherry Ann. Two Step Sons-Theron L. Graham, Jr.(Dolmecia) and Tyson T. Graham, Sr.(C’estquea). Grandchildren-Brandon Bracy, Kenyetta Shaw, Jr., Garrett Mitchell, Galvin Mitchell, Granddaughter-Khali Bracy, Roneisha Bracy, Geokia Bracy Rashad Bracy and Great Grandson Cameron Bracy; Step Grandchildren-Shatoya Graham, Katierion Graham, Kendra Leakes, Shantai Pounds, Theron L. Graham, III, Trenton L. Graham, Tyson T. Graham, Jr. and Sasha L. Graham,. In-Laws- Gloria Bracy, Edward Madison, Jr.(Edith-deceased), Willie J. Fulmore, Jr. (Cora), Mae F. King(Ronnie), Ronald Fulmore, Sr.(Denise), Gloria J. Wallace(Douglas, Sr,), Dennis L. Fulmore(Brenda), Janice Fulmore-Tigner(Curtis, Jr.), Connell Demetrius Fulmore(Hortense), Melissa A. Fulmore-Hardwick(Jerald). Special In-laws Sallie Stubbs, Francine Stubbs-Butler, Michael Stubbs, and Harry Hughes. Godchildren Teneshia Baisden-Tigner and Terrence Baisden, Best Friend Sam Burgess, His adopted family of Burnest & Pearlie Mae Baisden, Along with a plethora of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins other family members, friends and loved ones who will miss his contagious smile and laughter.
