Eddie Randell

In the early morning hours of Sunday April 16, 2023, Eddie Randell was called home to eternal peace at the age of 83 years old. Eddie was born in Colquitt County, Georgia on June 7, 1939. He was the first born child of Alexander Randell and Orleaner Johnson (both deceased.) In the 1950s, Eddie moved to Pompano Beach, FL where he met and fell in love with his first wife, Roben Hicks (deceased.) In April 1966, they united in marriage and settled in the Pompano Beach suburb of Esquire Lakes where they raised 8 children. Shortly after, the family joined the First Baptist Church in Collier City where Eddie ultimately served as Deacon on the Church Board. Eddie was a husband and a hard working father. He was employed for 39 faithful years at Noland Supply Company where he ultimately retired in 1998. To the immediate family, Eddie was known as Daddy or Granddaddy. He was affectionately known as Big Ed to his friends and coworkers. To the Masonic Order, where he was a member and held various titles, he was known as Brother Randell. As a member of the Masonic Order, Brother Randell was Honorary Past Master of Pompano Beach Masonic Lodge No 409, Honorary Past High Priest of Pompano Chapter No 164 of the Most Excellent Grand Chapter Holy Royal Arch Masons of Florida, a member of Union Grand Commandery No 22, a two time Past Potentate of Saba Temple No 186 of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Noble of the Mystic Shrine, 32° Mason and the Keeper of the Seal and Archives of St. Joseph Consistory No 275, the Grand Register of the Florida Council of Deliberation, and 33° Scottish Rite Mason of the United Supreme Council Southern Jurisdiction Prince Hall Affiliated. Eddie’s sibling, Alex Randell, preceded him in death, however, he leaves to cherish in his memory his second wife Arneita Gassett; five sons Thomas Hicks of Killeen, TX; Warren Hicks, Sylvester Turner, and George Randall of Pompano Beach, FL; Johnny Randell of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three daughters Rolen Hicks of Pompano Beach, FL; Erious (George) Scott and Cecelia (Willie) Wilson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two brothers Wilson (Bernice) Randell and Jimmy Randell of Norman Park, GA; four sisters Willie Pearl Rose of Onset, MA; Mary Neil Jean of Boston, MA; Mae Lue (Geoff) Newland of Coco Beach, FL; Mattie Lambert of Albany, GA. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends will cherish his memory as well.
