Cynthia Montaque

Her Story Cynthia Montaque, affectionately called (Cent), 74, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away Sunday Morning March 2,2025 with loved ones by her side. Cynthia was born to the late Johnnie Mae McClain & bonus father Fred McClain Sr. on August 22,1950, in Pompano Beach, Florida. As a child, Cynthia attended S. D. Spady Elementary School in Delray Beach, FL and moved to Pompano Beach, FL where she attended Blanche Ely High School. She attended The New Golden Heights Church of Christ and become a membership to Grace Covenant Church of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Cynthia was the mother of three lovely children, 1 son and 2 daughters whom she loved and cared for. She made her family her number one priority. Cent made sure everyone around her was good. During her young adult years, Cent appeared as an extra in the movie "Love Child," which was filmed in 1982 in Ft. Lauderdale FL. Later in life she went on and started babysitting for relatives, friends and by word of mouth. Her passion for kids was so nurturing the kids never wanted to go home. She has plenty of special grandkids. Prior to experiencing health issues, Cynthia was an active member of the usher board at Grace Covenant Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her dedication to her family and community was further exemplified through her unwavering faith and active participation in church activities. Her compassionate nature and warm spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Cynthia's legacy of love, care, and devotion continues to inspire those who knew her, making her an irreplaceable presence in their lives. During her time as a Grandmother Cynthia loved her grandchildren dearly. She pushed the importance of education onto her grandchildren. Cent was very proud of her grandchildren for finishing high school and going off to college. She took pride in getting her grandchildren on the weekends. Cynthia and her boyfriend at the time (Davide) loved getting the grandchildren and taking them fishing. Cynthia loved cooking for her family & friends. Cynthia also took spades very seriously and was particularly about her partner. So, if you wasn’t “Sam” and didn’t know how to trash talk she’s not sitting at the table. Cynthia is survived by her children, Randolph Hughes (Janice), Lakeysha McMillian, and Erica Mack Allen. Grandchildren: Micheal McMillian, Takiesha McMillian, Cameron McMillian, Savon McMillian and Kenny Allen Jr. Great-Grandchildren: Yamora McMillian, Camirah McMillian, Kha’Maud Allen, and Khamari Allen. Honorary Grandchildren: Chayanne Hanson, Divine Hanson and Chasity Mack. Special daughters: Tonya Burton, Judette Ceaser, Siblings: Betty Young, Larry Montague, Shirley McClain, Toni Taylor, Jennifer McClain, Fred McClain, Jr., Nikki Ulmer (Clifford) Corey McClain and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she dearly loved. Cynthia was predeceased by her mother and stepfather Johnnie Mae & Fred McClain, Sr., Son in-law: Kenny Allen, Sr. Sister: Pamela McClain.
