Calvin Smith

THE LIFE & LEGACY Calvin Louis Smith, affectionately known as "Cal," was born on May 10,1956, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was the fifth child born to the late Jessroe and Johnnie Mae Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. Calvin met and married the love of his life, the late Corine "Sandy" Reed Smith. They shared 43 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with two handsome sons. Their son, Carlos Smith, preceded him in death. Calvin received his education through Broward County Public Schools and graduated from Coconut Creek High School with the Class of 1974. During high school, he was a proud member of the wrestling team. Following graduation, Calvin joined the United States Army, where he faithfully served his country for four years. While serving in the military, he also pursued his passion for boxing and competed as a boxer. Calvin was a hardworking entrepreneur and a man of many talents. Alongside his beloved wife, Sandy, he founded C & S Formal Wear and C & S Photography. Together, they used their creativity and dedication to serve their community and create lasting memories for many families. On August 12, 2026, God smiled down upon Calvin Smith and spoke the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Calvin then peacefully transitioned into the heavenly atmosphere. In addition to his parents, wife, and son, Calvin was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Johnson; brothers, Andrew Smith, Cliford Smith, Michael Smith, and Jethro Smith; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Lucas and Clarence Carlisle. Calvin leaves to cherish his loving memory his sons, Curtis Smith (Sharvonda), Daron Bell, and Cornelius King Sr.; granddaughters, Alexis Smith, Crystyana Smith, Courtness King, and Cassidy King; grandsons. Jacobe Grant, Curtis Smith Jr., Carlos Smith Jr., and Cornelius King Jr.; and his precious great-granddaughter, Desryanna Brooks. He also leaves behind his sisters, JoAnn Duncan, Johnnie Lucas, Mary Permenter (Maurice Sr.), Nisa Carlisle, and Selina Pryor (Clifton); brother, Norris Smith Sr.; mother-in-law, Annie Reed; father-in-law, Mack Reed; sisters-in-law, Annie McClary (Irving) and Maxine Reed: godbrother, Darvin Graham; goddaughter, Vanesia Latrell; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great- nieces, cousins, extended family members, in-laws, and dear friends. Calvin's life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, service, strength, and dedication. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched, and he will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
