Aurel Latortue

Aurel Latortue was born on June 7, 1931, in Quartier-Morin, Haiti, to the late Clerteda Duroc and Alphonse Latortue. He was the third of ten children. In 1974, Aurel departed Haiti and traveled to Grand Bahama. He later relocated to Miami, Florida, in 1978. On August 26, 1978, he married Lucienne Latortue. Their union was blessed with eleven children, and together they built a loving home grounded in faith and strong family values. Aurel was a devoted man of faith and a longtime member of First Haitian Baptist Church of Pompano Beach, Florida, which he joined in 1978. He faithfully served as an usher for many years and continued serving at the First Haitian Baptist Church of Pompano, Beach until his health no longer permitted him to do so in person. Aurel deeply loved the church and was passionate about sharing the message of salvation. He consistently encouraged others to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, believing firmly in the power of faith and redemption. Much of his free time was spent reading the Holy Bible while sitting on his front porch, reflecting his deep commitment to God. Aurel was employed by Publix Super Markets, where he worked in the deli department for over nineteen years. He was highly regarded by coworkers and customers for his dedication, kindness, and warm demeanor, always greeting others with a welcoming smile. Aurel was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He raised his children with prayer, discipline, and guidance, serving as both provider and protector. His grandchildren were a source of immense joy, and he took great pride in being present in their lives. He was always willing to care for them, offer support, and spend meaningful time with them. In his quieter moments, he found joy in cooking and resting on the front porch. Affectionately known as Da’De, Aurel was a man of strength, humility, and wisdom. Though reserved in nature, he was discerning, generous, and deeply compassionate. He was regarded by many as a father figure and a spiritual example. On December 12, 2025 at 5:17 p.m., Aurel Latortue peacefully transitioned from this life at his home. Having faithfully completed his earthly journey, he answered God’s call and entered into eternal rest. His legacy of faith, service, and unwavering devotion to God and family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Lucienne Latortue; his beloved children, Nadege Latortue, Revlie Latortue, Erline Edmonds, Emmanuel Edouard, Frico Jerome, and Mihlene Alexis; and his cherished in-laws, Natasha Latortue, Wilford Edmonds, and Tonya Jerome. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Revlie (Tipa) Latortue, Merline Latortue, Stephanie Guerrier, Kettnel Jr. Charles, Rashad Latortue, Dennis Guerrier, Brittnie Guerrier, Jovnel Darelus, Patrick Darelus, Zakaria Simmons, Natalya Latortue, Revlie Latortue Jr., Camillie Edouard, Precious Gerome, Frisco Gerome, Camcy Edouard, Jermarieon Gerome, Gerald Gerome, Fhulupie Joseph, Judeline St-Hilaire, Kamari Philpart, and Javonte Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory his great-grandchildren: Elijah Guerrier, Lyanna Guerrier, Myleesa Guerrier, Lena Gerome, Riley Latortue, Promise Latortue, Artyst Latortue, Nizeir Venson, Patrick Jerome, Donail Jerome, Paris Jerome and Tyreek Jerome. He is further survived by his niece and nephews, Edwin Pierre, Jean-Claude Latortue, Harold Latortue, Alex Latortue, and Reginald Latortue; and his beloved brother, Maxie Latortue. Aurel Latortue also leaves a host of extended family members to cherish his memories including the Cherenfant, Edouard, Etienne, Innocent, Latortue, Brown, Edmonds, Darelus, and Timothe, families, as well as his cherished church family of First Haitian Baptist Church and friends.
