Annie Butler Archie

Annie Lue Butler- Archie was a fun-loving, free-spirited soul who marched to the beat of her own drum. She was straightforward and did not fail in telling you the truth in love. She did not sugarcoat her words. She was a great disciplinarian who always encouraged you to become the best “you” that you could be. This was her way of letting you know how much she cared. She possessed the strength of the strongest animal in the world, the blue whale. Having raised four kids on her own, she would work two, sometimes three jobs to ensure their needs were met. She instilled in each of them tireless work efforts, strength and great tenacity to succeed as a minority while living in a world filled with unequal equality. Her fight for dignity, respect and equivalent equality was real, and it stands for many of us today. Her unfailing strength is contributed to her late parents Artis and Dicie Dillard. Annie was born and raised in Florida, attended grade school at Pompano Project Elementary School and graduated from Ely High School, class of 1963. Upon graduating she remained in contact with many of her classmates, she often bragged about the good times they had traveling together to various locations throughout the United States. Oh, how she loved her boat cruise excursions with her dear friends. You could also find Annie working diligently with her students at Palmview Elementary, she had a serious passion for education and teaching. Her students are still talking about Mrs. Archie and her way with kids, she knew how to make them stand still and pay attention. Many of them credit their success to her ability to keep them in line. Annie committed thirty years of her life, not just to the Broward County School System, but to thousands of children who she loved. Undoubtedly, she left a lasting memory in the lives of those she touched over the years. She loved spending time with her family the most, home gatherings, siblings trips, reunions and watching her grandchildren sing, compete in track, soccer, basketball and football. A sports lover she was; a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Gophers, where her great-nephew currently plays as defensive end. She was blessed to have witnessed the attaining of a professional basketball player, football player and numeral record-breaking moments amongst her grandchildren. Hot or cold, near or far, sunshine or rain, Annie Lue was there cheering them on to victory! A proud grandmother she was. Annie after receiving Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior developed a boldness to witness to the lost. She was very proud to share the gospel with others. She was not ashamed of sharing the Word of God. She was an ambassador for the Lord, reaching countless souls for Christ over the years she served with the Lord!
